K3 CAT SKIING , WHITE GRIZZLY

The powder doesn’t stop when the snowcat does. New for the 2024–2025 season, White Grizzly is excited to offer guided ski touring and splitboarding experiences in the beautiful Kootenay backcountry led by our expert partners at Kootenay Backcountry Guides.

Whether you’re looking to start your trip with a soulful, skintrack-based adventure or wind down with a quiet escape into untouched terrain, ski touring is the perfect complement to your cat skiing trip. It’s the natural next step for powder lovers who want to keep skiing deep snow in Canada, explore new zones, and earn their turns all under the guidance of seasoned ACMG-certified professionals.

Why Add Ski Touring to Your White Grizzly Trip?

If you've experienced the thrill of K3 cat skiing or cat skiing Whistler, you know the rush of being dropped into fresh powder. Now, imagine slowing it down climbing through silent, snow-laden forests, reaching panoramic ridgelines, and dropping into pristine lines that only a few people will ski all season. That’s the magic of ski touring.

Ski touring brings a quiet intensity to your mountain experience. It's the yin to cat skiing’s high-octane yang, giving you the chance to truly immerse yourself in the landscape while building self-reliance and mountain awareness.

Our terrain is completely separate from our cat skiing zones, meaning you'll explore brand-new areas and find untouched powder in every direction. Whether you're new to the skintrack or already an experienced backcountry skier, this is your chance to deepen your connection to the mountains.

How It Works: Booking Your Backcountry Touring Experience

Our ski touring trips are based out of the vibrant ski town of Nelson, BC. You can choose from single-day or multi-day touring options, and group sizes are intentionally small just 2 to 5 guests per guide for a more personal, safer, and flexible experience.

Everything is designed to make your transition from snowcat to skintrack seamless, so you can focus on what really matters: skiing deep snow in one of Canada’s most powder-rich regions.

Want to Take It Further?

Ski touring is not just about riding; it’s also a chance to build skills, awareness, and confidence. That’s why our partner company, Kootenay Backcountry Guides, offers Avalanche Safety Training (AST) courses alongside hut-based trips and iconic ski traverses throughout the Rockies and beyond.

Final Thoughts: Powder, Peaks & Personal Progression

From the adrenaline of cat skiing Whistler or K3 cat skiing to the soul-filling quiet of a ski tour deep in the Kootenays, White Grizzly now offers the full spectrum of winter adventure. If you're craving more than just vertical if you're looking to experience the heart of skiing deep snow in Canada this is your chance to make it happen.
